On Sunday 5th October 1975 (this day 48 years ago) the official opening ceremony for the newly restored Holycross Abbey took place where dignitaries of an International, National Church and State Delegates attended. The official opening was not just a great parish event or a diocesan one but a truly national occasion. See link below to RTE archive recording of the ceremony.
In two years time, we will mark the 50th Anniversary of the re-opening. A meeting to discuss plans for this event will be held in Holycross Abbey on Wednesday next 11th October at 8pm. All are welcome.
